This is a collection of pieces from the mid1970s. James Curran, Craig Hobschaidt, and Henry Warwick were members of a prog-rock cover band called Solaris. In June 1976, Henry was graduating High School as an Art Major and wanted to do performance art as his final project. The piece, Concrete Music, is a large part of that performance. Craig did much of the razor cutting of the tapes for this piece, per Henry's exacting compositional notes.
In September he began attending the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where he studied electronic music under Larry S Johnson. A piece that he submitted for that class is, for this album, "Sketches of Greenwich Park".
When he returned to New Jersey, Henry got back with James and Craig, and Craig talked about how you could get sound by using alligator clips on the innards of a pocket calculator. At the same time, they were able to get a performance cleared for Tillett Hall at the East Brunswick Library. The recording here, "Calculator Music" is of a rehearsal for that performance, which occurred on 17 JUNE 1977.
The song list was:
1. Concrete Music
2. 4'33" by John Cage, arranged for Guitar, bass, drums, and tape deck.
3. Poeme Electronique by Edgard Varese
4. Sketches of Greenwich Park
5. Calculator Music
In November 2021, Craig found some reel to reel tapes in a box in his house. They were not in the greatest of shape, but he was able to digitise what was on them and sent Henry the files. Henry did some basic Balancing to help with the drop outs and other age-related defects. Other than that, there was very little done to the recordings.

The Solaris Consortium were a group of friends in New Jersey in the late 1970s. They made musique concrète and music from pocket calculators and guitar stomp boxes. They performed once, 14 JUN 1977, at Tillett Hall in the East Brunswick NJ Library.
